Buro Amsterdam is a real-estate agency, specialised in redeveloping old buildings in the city. Since being founded in 2002, they have developed over 200 properties within Amsterdam. The company wanted to restyle their existing logo, update their brand identity and above all create a new website featuring an interactive map-based portfolio. The prominent illustrative style we created highlights the company’s friendly, dependable and professional demeanour.
Occasionally, illustrations of buildings have also been printed and framed to give as gifts to clients to thank them for their business.
Over time we are creating a vibrant, geographically fictional city of actual Buro Amsterdam developments, placing them in a world full of bakfietsen, family-packed stationwagons and dog walkers.
Client: Buro Amsterdam
Friendly, was the case that they gave us
A happy coincidence resulting in ficticious non-fiction
The start of this project could be written down as more a coincidence than a plan. One spring weekend, we decided to expand our portfolio getting together on a Saturday to develop an imaginary, illustrated Amsterdam street, based off of places in the city we hold dear to us, incorporating people, vehicles, infographics and all.
During that day the client happened to drop in, and upon seeing our work in progress, commissioned us to apply the concept to their business.
A wonderful aspect of this project is that as their company grows and turns over more properties, so does their unique street, which is versatile enough to be used as framed pictures, business cards, corporate gifts and there was even talk of snow globes – but that might remain as talk.
