The essence of Studio BAR

Studio BAR, founded by Seton Beggs and Jochem Ruijgrok, was officially registered in October 2013 and operated successfully until December 2017 when the guys amicably, and mutually decided to part ways.

During the days of the studio, the style Seton and Jochem set has been referred to as “Dutch Design with an international twist”

Since meeting as students at the world-renowned Design Academy in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, the two had collaborated on several projects over a number of years before deciding to form a business together. Since its opening, the studio grew to an international team of four, including an essential project manager who understood how to get the most out of the three-man design team, within the given time frames.

During the days of the studio, the style Seton and Jochem set for the studio has been referred to as “Dutch Design with an international twist” by some of their peers, which we

imagined was largely due to the fact that the entire team had lived and worked abroad during our careers.

We creatively combined, strategic thinking, modern tools and traditional crafts to create memorable communications

Using our expertise in graphic design and all its related aspects, the studio was fully equipped to tailor unique solutions to fit the goals of our client’s challenge. With high proficiency in creative digital, and handcrafted work, we took it upon ourselves to broaden the potential of a vision with all the available resources at hand. We creatively combineed strategic thinking, modern tools and traditional crafts to create memorable communications.

Our clients chose us because we worked closely with them, taking their best interests to heart and were reliable. In return, we delivered the best visual communications possible, and most importantly, formed healthy relationships.

BAR Affairs

Secondary to our work, we occasionally hosted ‘BAR Affairs’ which connected people and networks face-to-face via cultural initiatives and collaborative events. To check upcoming events visit our news page.

The way we worked

So what was the Studio BAR experience all about? Let us run you through our service in the few short steps below. It’s a simple process, but one we felt was worth mentioning.

Getting Started

Getting Started

Firstly, please browse through our portfolio and check out the diverse range of projects we've delivered.

Some clients choose us for our coffee. We try to keep them focused on our design.

We are versatile and proficient and we love a challenge but do ask yourself, "Is this the look and feel I'm aiming for?" Design studios are all different, so think about whether we're the right creative fit for you.

Get in Touch

Get in Touch

You're interested? Great. Then give us a call and let's chat about your project. How big it is - a complete corporate identity or a refresh of your current website - what your broad plans are and when it's needed. When we've given you a general overview of what we can do for you, we'll proceed to the next step and get you to send us a written brief.

If you're in Amsterdam, swing by the Jordaan and say hello in person.

We recommend you choose a single person within your company to be our contact for the project. With creative work it usually makes it simpler for one of your team to communicate with one of our team.

Sends us a Brief

Sends us a Brief

It's time to get into specifics. Tell us about your business and industry.

The more detailed your brief, the more detailed our quote can be.

We need to know as much as possible about the style, tone and message you want to convey to your target audience. Don't worry, if you're not sure where to start, we'll provide you with a structured set of questions to help you tell us exactly what it is you're looking for.

After we've received your brief, we'll send you a written estimate for the work, covering cost, our objectives, and any other practical information, like terms of business and legal stuff.

Ideally at this point you'll say, "That sounds perfect, when can you start?"

Dull, we know - but like you, we don't want any surprises later on. To proceed, just drop us an email and we'll get cracking.

Send us everything you've got

Send us everything you've got

It's research time and we need to put our thinking caps on.

It's your world, your brand, your area of expertise, so help us get to know it.

Please provide us with all relevant content (style guides, fonts, colour schemes, written texts, logos and other images) that will be useful for us to work with. The more source material we have, the sooner we'll get straight to the style and message you're looking for.

We Create and Send You the First Designs

We Create and Send You the First Designs

Behind the scenes, we will come up with a large collection of ideas, then whittle them down to some proposed sketches and mock-ups that best fit the brief. We'll send you a shortlist, presenting you with the strongest options.

Design is a collaborative process. We need to know your thoughts.

You'll need to set aside time to take a look through our design proposals, collect all the feedback from your side, and send it to us through the contact person from your company. We'll be working closely with them from here on out.

Over to You for Feedback

Over to You for Feedback

Our service includes receiving two rounds of feedback from you, and we rely on you here for us to get it right. We'll ask you to look at everything with a magnifying glass, checking spelling, content, colours and layout thoroughly.

Don't assume anything and try to be as careful and specific as you can. The last thing we want is a typo in your contact details. It's rare, but it can happen.

Believe us when we say this will be the most important stage for you. And it could well be tricky. Feedback is not always easy to express clearly, and ideas can occur to you at random times. Please try to send us all feedback at the same time and in writing.

Delivery

Delivery

The moment we've all been waiting for. You'll receive the final design, the bright and shiny new look, hot off the press.

You're happy, we're happy, and we all go home and have a nice weekend.

We can provide digital delivery, arrange for you to collect the work personally, or recommend a good courier.

All the hard work's been done. You'll receive an invoice, based on the quote plus any unexpected changes or additions that came up on the way, and ideally you'll say, "Perfect, here's cash". We'd also love your feedback. What aspects were you happy with and what suggestions do you have for us.

And that's it.
Told you it was simple.

We want your project, service, and customer experience to be as superb as possible. And better still, we hope you'll say, "Have you heard about these guys?" and start telling everyone where your awesome new designs and branding came from. We're immensely proud of our work and we want you to be too.
